Founder of Due North Psychology

Psychologist Allie Mackay is passionate about helping people overcome difficulties that impact you and stop you from living the life you want. It may be a vague feeling that the joy or energy you used to feel is missing, difficulty relating to yourself positively (hallo perfectionism and hallo inner critic!) , fears, phobias, childhood or recent trauma, chronic health diagnoses and stage of life transitions such as menopause, becoming a parent, or retirement.

Allie is a celebrated researcher with her research published in peer reviewed journals. Her findings were that a simple mindfulness and biofeedback  intervention was an effective psychological strategy to reduce stress, anxiety, depression and fatigue in multiple sclerosis and significantly reduced pain and analgesic use in migraines.

Allie loves to keep ahead of the results of research so that she can treat people with the most effective interventions.

The clinic is located in comfortable rooms in Miranda NSW, however bookings are also available online as she is committed to making psychological strategies and support more accessible for busy people from all parts of the world.

Trauma and the Body

Allie understands that we are all humans with complex and rich lives with plans that don't always go as we hoped.  She believes that you are the expert in your own life and you know your own story. Our team are here to support you to be able to release the pain and fears so you can get back to living fully in line with your true values (that's why we called our practice Due North - our direction is that you find your North Star again).

Allie finds many clients present with physical symptoms like insomnia, IBS, fatigue, twitches, pain and untreated stress. They may have been on a long medical journey with nothing conclusive found. Physical symptoms are the body’s way of coping with stress, and can be a signpost that you may benefit from support to take back control of your emotions. " I love to help people re-connect to their bodies and emotions in more pleasant and helpful ways after a traumatic experience has caused a disconnect,” Allie says. “My favourite experience is the 'aha' moment as people re-connect to their minds and bodies and really get it”.

Very often, we ultimately end up talking mostly about a person’s relationships – to their children, partners, and in particular to themselves. The connection between how we talk to ourselves and how our body takes that information on board is profound.
